900 exhibitors, which double the number of last edition, will attend more than 22.000 visitors which are expected by the organization.
During the fair, there will also take place 23 conferences which will focus on the future of renewable energies, photovoltaics included, both in the national market analyzing the prospective of self consumption with net-metering and in an international dimension, with symposiums concerning projects in other continents.

From the last 14th and until the next 30th September the final phase of the Solar Decathlon is being held. During this competition, universities from different contries expose their designs of solar and efficient buildings.
The total of teams showing their real-scale buildings is 20 from 13 different countries. The competition takes place at the “Villa Solar”, in the Casa de Capo (Madrid)
As a visitor you can access to the inside of the houses. More information about the contest and timetable for the visits is shown in the web of the organization.
Conferences are also taking place everyday during the competition. Last 20th September UNEF gave a lecture about Self-Consumption and Net-Metering. More details about the content of this conference can be downloaded form UNEF web page.

UNEF, the new Spanish Photovoltaic Industry Association, has released an interesting video on which Spanish Pv energy is promoted.
Video available on this link.
Under the motto “Use your own solar energy” the aim is showing to both small and big electricity consumers that they can change the system by becoming solar energy producers.

Today, 5th June, the World Environment Day is celebrated.
This years’s motto is “Green Economy: Does it include YOU?”.
With this sentence, the UNEP aims to focus our mind to a concept which can seem complex at first, but is actually based in three principles:
– Low carbon emissions. Green Economy is powered by energy resources which don’t use fossil fuels.
– Ressource efficiency. Rational use of sources from which we get the raw materials, energy, food…
– Socially inclusive. Everybody must have the right and possibility to take part in this economy.
All of us should consider the next: ¿Am I part of the green economy?
Strengthening the use of renewable energies is a way of contributing to the development of green economy, since those kinds of energy are free of carbon emissions, are based in perpetual sources (such as sun and wind) and can allow everybody to have a fair and worthy access to energy.

Self-Consumption with Net-Metering can become a good option for those who want to get their electricity bill reduced while generating clean and sustainable energy but what does it consist of?
A Self-Consumption facility consists of solar modules set up either in the roof of a house or over an industry building. Those modules produce electricity during the daylight hours and pour it into the electric net. The amount of generated electricity is registered by a counter device.
Independently, the building will continue consuming the electricity from the electric net and another counter will register the electricity consumption, just like it has always been.
Therefore, a building with a self-consumption facility will have two counters: one of them will give the amount of energy produced and the other one will get the lecture of energy consumption.
At the end of each month, it will be considered the measurements of both counter devices. For example:
– If the energy consumption is 250 kWh and the energy production is 200 kWh, the owner will have to pay 50 kWh of electric consumption.
– If both energy consumption and production are 250 kWh, the owner won’t have to pay the energy consumption.
– If the energy consumption is 250 kWh and the energy production is 300 kWh, the owner will be allowed to consume 50 kWh with no cost.
RD1699/2011 set the basis for self-consumption in Spain and let the way clear to continue legislating with regards to this activity.
Another law, RDL13/2012, avoided important administrative barriers.
There is not still a legislation which establishes the technical and invoicing procedures; since there are aspects which are being discussed. Anyway, the example provided in this article gives a good approach of what is being intended to do.
